What is Radiology Lobby Day at the Capitol?
The leadership of the Virginia Radiological Society believes that it is essential for the Society to continue to participate in legislative discussions involving health care delivery in Virginia. To help maintain a vocal presence during the 2024 Session, all members of the VRS are encouraged to join us on MONDAY,
JANUARY 27, 2025 for Radiology Lobby Day at the Capitol.
Why is it so important to join us this year?
This General Assembly session will bring unprecedented challenges to the healthcare profession in Virginia. We are now facing imminent and viable proposals that would drastically change the way healthcare professionals are governed in Virginia. Anticipated priority issues include:
- Medical Malpractice Cap Reform
- COPN
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists
- Non compete agreements
Where will the Radiology Lobby Day at the Capitol be held?
We'll meet with Legislators in downtown Richmond at the brand new General Assembly building.
What's the schedule of events on our lobby day?
Please plan to join us from 7:30 a.m. until about noon. We will start with a brief organizational session and breakfast at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (815 E Grace Street, Richmond, VA 23219) before going over to the General Assembly Building. Lara Knowles, Society Coordinator, will set up appointments with your legislators, where possible.
How should I prepare for our Lobby Day?
VRS lobbyist, James Pickral, will provide background information for bills pertinent to our Society. Don't forget to bring your white coat to wear while lobbying and a supply of business cards to hand out to legislators and their aides.
Why should I leave behind my busy practice to come to Richmond to lobby?
As the saying goes, if you're in medicine, you're in politics. Members of the General Assembly need to hear from YOU, their constituents, about how the legislation they're considering will affect the practice of medicine - from setting Medicaid payment rates, protecting Virginia's positive liability climate, to ensuring quality patient care. Speak up, get involved!
