What is Radiology Lobby Day at the Capitol?
The leadership of the Virginia Radiological Society believes that it is essential for the Society to continue to participate in legislative discussions involving health care delivery in Virginia. To help maintain a vocal presence during the 2026 Session, all members of the VRS are encouraged to join us on MONDAY,
FEBRUARY 23, 2026 for Radiology Lobby Day at the Capitol.
Where will the Radiology Lobby Day at the Capitol be held?
We'll meet with Legislators in downtown Richmond at the General Assembly building.
What's the schedule of events on our lobby day?
Please plan to join us from 7:30 a.m. until about noon. We will start with a brief organizational session and breakfast at St. Paul's Episcopal Church before going over to the General Assembly Building. Lara Knowles, Executive Director, will set up appointments with your legislators, where possible.
How should I prepare for our Lobby Day?
VRS lobbyist, James Pickral, will provide background information for bills pertinent to our Society. Don't forget to bring your white coat to wear while lobbying and a supply of business cards to hand out to legislators and their aides.
Why should I leave behind my busy practice to come to Richmond to lobby?
As the saying goes, if you're in medicine, you're in politics. Members of the General Assembly need to hear from YOU, their constituents, about how the legislation they're considering will affect the practice of medicine - from setting Medicaid payment rates, protecting Virginia's positive liability climate, to ensuring quality patient care. Speak up, get involved!

Thank you to our members who joined us on Monday, January 27th for our annual lobby day!
Members met with legislators in Richmond to discuss affordable access to diagnostic breast imaging (HB1828 & SB1238),our opposition to cutting the medical malpractice cap (SB 904), and protecting healthcare providers from violence (our support of (HB2269 & SB1260), among other issues.
